Multiple families can now take care of their child while in hospital without having to worry about their housing payments all because of a day of softball.
Last week (July 6, 2023), real estate industry friends and colleagues joined us and Quantus Mortgage Solutions for our annual softball tournament.
It was one of the largest tournaments we’ve hosted, with over 80 people in attendance and eight teams playing at Calgary Industrial Softball diamonds.
“It was amazing to see so many people out to support Community Key,” said Todd Fralic, co-owner of Quantus Mortgage Solutions. “We had people join us from all across the industry; mortgage brokers, real estate agents, lending partners, and even my daughters’ softball association joined.”
Off the diamonds, a few of our players cooled down as volunteers for our dunk tank. Jason Mykes, Business Relationship Manager for CMI Canadian Mortgage was our first, brave volunteer on the stand. However, even after a perfect throw, it took a sneaky play by mortgage broker Jacqueline Jeffries, to pull the manual trigger and finally dunk Jason. You can watch that video here.
We also have to thank Leona Wowniar, President of the South Bow River Softball Association, who was a last-minute volunteer. Her fellow board members brought the heat to dunk her a couple of times!
Todd was the final volunteer for the dunk tank, and thanks to a bet with a fellow broker, had to be dunked in a banana suit. “The things I do for charity,” says Todd.
Hitting our Goal out of the Park
We had set a fundraising goal of $8,500 for this year’s tournament.
We raised over $13,000 for Community Key!
All of the funds that we raised goes directly to helping families with a critically-injured or terminally-ill child in hospital with their housing payments.
